'Strive for Five' Reading

We are proud to have introduced the 'Strive for Five' Reading homework to West Cumbria. This has been very successful in engaging children and parents with home reading.

Our children love their reading and always complete homework on time!

Well done to our Accelerated Reader winners in 3Ni for the most progress made and top point scorers. 📖

3Ni look fantastic in their World Book Day outfits! ⭐️They have been reading their favourite books and designing front covers for them. 📖

4J dressed up as their favourite characters and spent the day sharing their favourite books, playing truth or dare, creating new artwork for their favourite book and of cource, lots of reading!

6F dressed to impress for World Book Day today and played 'Literary Truth or Dare.' Congratulations to Alice who won our best costume competition, coming dressed as Gangsta Granny.

3Na got creative with poetry today! To celebrate Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake Day, the children where given the task to work in groups to come up with actions to support the poem 'Mix a Pancake' by Christina Rossetti. The end results where brilliant! Super work everyone!

3Na enjoyed their library session this week. We began reading our new class novel 'The Firework Maker's Daughter' by Philip Pullman. Everyone read wonderfully and we had some great use of expression too!

4C loved their session in the library today. We read our class novel 'The Chronicles of Narnia The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe' by C. S. Lewis. We explored why Mr Tumnus would agree to hand over any Son of Adam or Daughter of Eve to the White Witch.

4J enjoyed their library session today. We continued reading our class novel, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.

3Na had a wonderful time during our library session this week. We read our class novel 'The Iron Man' by Ted Hughes. There was some great reading-well done everyone!

We Were Visited by a Children’s Author Named Damian Harvey. Damian Read a Variety of his Stories to us and Told us that when we write stories, it is important that we use our imagination- they can be as weird and a wonderful as we like!

Year 3 enjoyed joining in with the reading of Damian Harvey's poem.
