Design and Technology

Seaton St. Paul's C of E Design & Technology

We love to create at Seaton St Paul's C of E Junior School. Our bespoke Design Technology curriculum gives us opportunities to complete projects in a variety of different areas from food, to engineering, to textiles, to construction. Each year group has a unit from each of our five strands per academic year.

We have designed each of our strands to best fit the needs of our pupils. In our Cooking strand, pupils will learn how to make simple meals, snacks and drinks for themselves. In our Textiles strand, pupils will learn sewing skills and in Construction, Engineering and Mechanisms pupils will learn about everyday products. In addition to our core DT curriculum, we love creating extra goodies throughout the year. At Christmas, the whole school cooks a healthy snack and through out the year we give our pupils chances to design and create their own projects.

Our projects link with our curriculum so that our pupils can deepen their understanding of a topic. We have included as much cultural capital as possible, including learning about famous engineers such as Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
